Building and Grounds Committee
The Building and Grounds Committee assists with maintenance and planning projects for the church building and grounds. Please contact the church office at 794-6401if you would like more information or to participate in the committee's activities.
Adopt a Garden
In 2009, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the consecration of our current church building. There will be many projects beginning now to spruce up the facilities and the grounds for the celebration, and one which takes the most time, but makes the first impact on visitors and new comers to Manakin, is the appearance of our grounds. In the past, we have had some very successful programs for adopting the various garden areas on our grounds, and we are bringing that concept back for the upcoming events.
On the Parish Hall bulletin board, there are photographs of at least ten areas that are up for adoption and signup sheets for those areas. You may find peace of mind in working alone in a garden, or enjoy the fellowship of teaming with other friends to accomplish a project. Which ever you prefer, and which ever best suits your available schedule for the work will be appreciated.
Sign up on the list for your preferred area, and you can begin work right away, or you can wait until our Adopt a Garden organizational meeting at the Buildings and Grounds committee meeting at the September Parish Council meeting to form your team and your plans. Sign up will be a commitment for the remainder of 2008, and all of 2009. In addition to the Adopt a Garden program, there will be many other ongoing projects on both the buildings and the grounds, but the appearance of all of them will be enhanced by the maintenance of the garden areas, and we can all take pride in welcoming visitors and friends to share in the beauty of our facility, as well as the fellowship of our community. We look forward to working with all of you on the project or projects of your choice.
