Long-Range Planning
The Long-Range Planning Committee was re-formed by the Vestry in 2005 to help Manakin define a vision for the future and plan for managing the growth expected after the opening of Route 288 and the development of the Robious Road corridor.
We are excited to report that Vestry has authorized us to proceed with a study to develop a long range master plan for our property. This plan will serve as a guide as we continue to carry out our mission of proclaiming, celebrating and sharing God’s love.
Over the next few months we will be working with the architectural firm of William Henry Harris & Associates to prepare this plan. Mr. Harris’ firm specializes in church related design and has helped numerous congregations plan for their future over the past 25 years. If you would like to learn more about his firm, go to www.harrisarchitects.org. Input from all members of the congregation is encouraged through attendance at one, or more, of the following meetings. Although the meetings will have a focus on the topics indicated, there will be plenty of time to provide input on a variety of topics; so if you cannot make the meeting you are most interested in, just attend another. The meeting schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday, April 16th, 7:00 PM:Focus on Christian Education for all ages
(There will be a Healing Service this night, followed by a pot luck dinner. Come at 6:00, 6:30 or 7:00) - Tuesday, April 22nd, 7:00 PM:Focus on Fellowship
- Tuesday, April 29th, 7:00 PM:Focus on Outreach
- Sunday, May 4th, 4:00 PM:Focus on Worship
All meetings will be facilitated by Mr. Harris and should last about 90 minutes. Prior to the meetings, there will be a questionnaire placed at the rear of the Church to get you thinking about the topics we will discuss.
