Caregiver Support Group
- FACT: Nearly one out of four U.S. households (23% of 22.4 million households) contain at least one caregiver for a relative or friend at least 50 years old.
- FACT: 95% of elderly living in the community with limitations in activities of daily living, have a family member involved with their care. (PBS Living Old Documentary)
A community Family Caregiver Support Group is based at Manakin Episcopal Church. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at from 7:00-8:30 p.m. ANYONE is welcome, no matter what disease or disability has put you in a Family Caregiver Role. And there is no cost. These meetings will be relaxed and shared concerns held in confidence. Attendees will learn skills to lessen their stress and isolation, gain new friendships, and find new ways to meet the challenges care for their loved one presents. Each session will be led by a professional, with Leanne Beorn, MA, MSW, LCSW, serving as our primary facilitator. If you are not in this situation, remember to encourage family and friends who are.
