From the Choir Corner
Choir CD
The Adult choir has produced their first choral CD. These can be purchased at the church office or after the worship service for $15 each. It is a beautiful CD and would make a great Christmas gift!
Music is an integral part of worship for many people, and Manakin Church is privileged to have a vital music program under the direction of Rita Gulliksen. Manakin has two choirs for its music program.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, or adult choir, is made up of adults with various levels of musical experience. This choir sings traditional church choral music including anthems by such composers as Bach, Brahms, Faure, Handel, Mozart, Rutter, and Tschesnokov every Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. service, and other special worship services throughout the year.
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 (sometimes longer in preparation for Christmas and Easter). We are always looking for new members, and encourage you to join us at a rehearsal. No experience is required; we can teach you to sing, and we always have a good time.
The Chorister Choir
The Chorister Choir is made up of young people in grades 3-12. They will be preparing during Lent to sing at Easter. They will rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:15-7:15 p.m. beginning on February 7th. Anyone age 8 through high school senior is welcome to join them - any skill or experience level will do, including no experience at all!
Please contact Rita Gulliksen if you would like to join!
