From the Choir Corner
Music is an integral part of worship for many people, and Manakin Church is privileged to have a vital music program under the direction of Rita Gulliksen. Manakin has two choirs for its music program.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir, or adult choir, is made up of adults with various levels of musical experience. This choir sings traditional church choral music including anthems by such composers as Bach, Brahms, Faure, Handel, Mozart, Rutter, and Tschesnokov every Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. service, and other special worship services throughout the year.
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 (sometimes longer in preparation for Christmas and Easter). We are always looking for new members, and encourage you to join us at a rehearsal. No experience is required; we can teach you to sing, and we always have a good time.
The Chancel Choir will resume their rehearsals on Thursday, September 9th, from 7:30 PM to 9:15 PM. We need more singers. Please join our group. Ask any choir member how much fun we have together!
The Chorister Choir
The Chorister Choir is made up of young people in grades 3-12. The Choristers are practicing for the 4:00 PM Christmas Eve service on Thursdays at 6:15 PM. Anyone age 8 through high school senior is welcome to join them Any skill or experience level will do, including no experience at all!
Please contact Rita Gulliksen if you would like to join!
